We are celebrating by making donations and advocating for women. Here is what YOU can do to help:
Participate in the donation drive to Calvary Women's Services. This fall Calvary will open Reach Up, a new housing program in Ward 8. Its capacity will grow by over 80% and more women will have opportunities to end their homelessness. Click Here for more information.
Another option is to support Zonta International Foundation with a charitable gift as part of Zonta's Global Giving Campaign
Advocate for Women
There are federal legislation and regulations regarding child marriage that the Washington DC Club and citizens of the District can champion by writing letters to representatives of congress. These are:
HR 2153 and S 1071 -- Keeping Girls in School;
HR 1738 and S 742 -- Protecting Children Through Eliminating Via Loopholes Act; or
Amending 18 U.S.C 2243 -- Removing the marriage exemption to the federal crime of statutory rape.
